Short biography
My name is Shunta Brooks, and I took College English 1301 for the Fall Semester of 2023 at Lone Star College Tomball while studying to become an Occupational Therapy Assistant. I have wanted to pursue this field because I care deeply about people and their wellbeing. I strive to help children restore, improve, or develop skills necessary for daily functioning and independence to directly improve their young lives. Through scheduled therapy sessions, I hope to form close, supportive relationships with my patients and their families.
As a mother of an autistic son, I understand personally how instrumental occupational therapy is for childhood development when intervention occurs early on. My son’s Occupational Therapy Assistant was an angel helping us through difficult and challenging times. I aspire to provide that same guidance and compassion to other struggling parents based on my firsthand experience of just how critical this support can be. My dream is to make a positive difference for families facing similar obstacles in my future occupational therapy career.
